It was 5:30 on a Friday night, and I found myself sitting at El Taco on Davie Stretet with Mister Man and Aileen. Well, that can only mean one thing:
It's DOXA TIME!!! It is indeed that time of year when thousands of Vancouverites spend hours in movie theatres drinking in documentaries from around the world.
Opening night featured a film called Terra Madre from Italy. It was a beautiful and engaging film about the slow food movement, despite the two parallel narratives that sometimes felt like they were competing with each other. The sold out screening was followed by a par-tay.
And the partay was preceded by us all being given free seeds! So we could all become part of our own slow food movement.
And it was a really lovely way to start the festival. Clearly, we're in for a great ride.
