We were in transit for 29 hours. That sounds like the opening phrase of an adventure movie in which we risk life and limb to save the day. In truth, the only part that was remotely brutal was the red eye in which everyone around me seemed to be deep in Snoozeville. The reason I know this to be true? I was nowhere NEAR Snoozeville. Rather, I was hanging out in "I think the Benedryl had the opposite effect-ville". Luckily, I wasn't the driver on the first leg of the journey from Phillie to the Cape. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me share the good bits (which were plentiful) with you.
We set out for Seattle. There was himself, a "mister man" amongst 3 women: Moi, Kari and Aileen. We were on a road trip and there was no denying it!!
I love the way the duty free sign got juxtaposed on top of the WELCOME sign. It sums it up neatly doesn't it?
Road trip!! Crank up The Backstreet Boys and let's get MOVING!!!
We were given one last chance to change our mind.
But we were goin' for it. No holds barred.
So that we could see 2 of our favourite Americans: Paul and Lisa. But along the way, we had a very important stop to make in Bellingham.
Because we had to buy supplies for the journey. This is a box of sugarlove in which an almond is lovingly wrapped in coconut and then bathed in chocolate. It makes driving more fun. And more better.
This picture is worth millions of happy taste buds.
Lisa is a gardener. And while I do not like to get my hands dirty (truth - it's almost pathological), I sure respect folks who do. Because they grow things like this:
Paul and Lisa took us to their favourite neighbourhood pub (also known as The Wegdie).
The burgers were beautifully tasty (though not nearly as tasty as the tales told to us by Lisa which had us both spellbound and laughing so hard we almost peed). (photo cropped by blogger - I'll try to fix it later... or as they say on the cape "latah".)
Paul and Mister Man.
Lisa mid way through the most outrageous wedding saga.
Obligatory shot in which Mister Man sneakily steals the camera and takes a photo.
Coming Next: the drive, the family - the fun continues. We are just about to blast out the door to Martha's Vineyard. Cape Cod kisses from Sugarlove Girl.
ok ONE MORE TIME - I have tried to post a comment twice to no avail....
ReplyDeleteso to reiterate;
CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME CAN I COME PLEAAASE?
*sigh!*
look forward to more lovely photos of that lovely place....
Bunkle - you are more than welcome on our journey! Today the beaches of P-town beckon!
